I think the main reason that I have a great romance with these albums is that the era surrounding them was one where most of the names that appear on these pages were usually only heard via a radio glued to my ear on cold Wednesday evenings in the October's, November's and December's of the late 70's listening to European commentary, or waiting patiently for the 10 o'clock news (if I was allowed to stay up to that time) to come on to find out the results of matches played that evening.
There was no such thing as having a choice from 8 live European games on Sky two or three nights per week. Some of the photos in these albums were, I'm sure, the only time I may have been able to put a face to the name that I may have heard mentioned by a commentator.
