HISTORY In 2002 Hasbro, the US company that owned the rights to Subbuteo, provided the Italian toy company Parodi with a licence to start production on a brand new range of Subbuteo items. Parodi had been importing Subbuteo products into Italy from the 1970's and had quite a bit of experience in this area of the toy market. Parodi mainly targeted Italians at first with the initial club edition featuring Fiorentina and I think Verona as standard, although I stand to be corrected on this, but word soon spread and it's products focused on a more Global market. The mass of lightweight teams that had been left on the shelves in Europe were to be repainted up by Parodi as part of the deal and sold on as teams in the new range. I do not have any of these repainted teams in my collection as personally I did not like the thick paint finish that was left on the figures. I started collecting in 2003 when the new Subbuteo figure and 2 piece base teams in a black box arrived. Details of these and my Parodi Accessories can be found on the two links on the left of this page.
